Alternative Methods Used To Treat Allergies

If you are someone that suffers from seasonal allergies, you are well aware of how horrible you feel when you are in the middle of the pollinating season. Pollination of plants can cause an array of symptoms from eye itchiness to a stuffy nose. There are several methods used to treat allergies. Many of these are with the use of medication. There are a few home remedies that you can try, however, if you are a not a fan of ingesting pills to relieve the symptoms. Here are some ways you can try to help ease the symptoms of seasonal allergies.

Flushing Out With Saline

You can try to flush your nose with a home-made saline solution to try and remove the stuffiness associated with seasonal allergies. This method can flush out some of the inflammatory cells that allergens can cause. Use warm distilled water mixed with a smidgen of baking soda. Use a medicine dropper to place a few drops of the solution into each nostril and breathe in after application.

Try Taking A Shower

If you can't shake the sneezing and itchy eyes that you get from seasonal allergies, try jumping in a shower to help relieve symptoms. You may have contracted pollen on your body during the day, causing you to have excessive allergy symptoms. Washing your hair and body can remove these allergens, allowing you to be able to breathe again.

Try Using A Himalayan Salt Lamp

Himalayan salt lamps are lamps that give off negative ions that are used to counterbalance things that have positive ions, such as allergens, pollen, pet dander, and smoke. These contaminants can cause havoc when breathed in. The lamp is thought to work as a natural air purifier. The Himalayan salt lamp is plugged into an outlet in your bedroom, helping you relax and relieve stress. When you start breathing in the ions that are given off from the salt structure the lamp is made from, the symptoms of allergies will dissipate.

Wasabi And Peppermint Tea

Try using wasabi on some of your favorite foods to get the mucous moving from within your nasal passages. Wasabi is a spicy, hot-tasting food that can help you by unstuffing your nose. You can also try horseradish for the same effect.

Peppermint tea can help relieve allergies by acting as a decongestant as well. Anti-inflammatory properties are given by peppermint oil, and tea is a perfect way to incorporate this oil into your diet.
